James P. Gallagher (85) of Springfield, New Jersey passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026. Born on March 14, 1941 in Jersey City, Jim was the only child of James and Anna (nee) McAndrew both of whom arrived to this country from County Mayo, Ireland in the 1920’s. Jim was the proud graduate of St. Aloysius High School, the University of Oklahoma and New Jersey City University earning a B.S., M.A., M.S. and a P.D. in School Psychology. After graduation Jim was the Supervisor in charge of the Elizabeth office of the New Jersey Rehabilitation Commission. Recent employment was as a School Psychologist in Jersey City for 31 years. In retirement, Jim was the Director of Omega Psychological Services. Jim also enjoyed gardening and traveling during retirement as well as tennis and jogging for recreation. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, sense of humor and his emphasis on friendships.
