Annie B. Green

Annie Beatrice Green (nee Saffold) was born on June 8, 1937, on a small family farm in Lexington, Mississippi. She was the eighth child out of fourteen children born to the late Joseph and Willie Mae Saffold. The children were taught how to do farm work and they lived off the land. They were a close-knit family who were raised in the church and learned to follow the ways of the Most High.

In 1955, Ann (as she preferred to be called) graduated high school from Saints Academy at the age of eighteen years old and set her sights on New York City. She settled in Brooklyn, New York with her sister Irene. Even after Irene married (the late Abe Crawford), Ann continued to live with them up until they had their first four children. In 1962, Ann met and then married a handsome, Holy Spirit-filled preacher by the name of Herb Green. And to this union, three children were born: Brian, Candace and Dante. Both Ann and Herb instilled in their children the importance of putting the Most High first, praying without ceasing, and studying the Scriptures.

Ann was diligent and hard-working throughout her career. She worked in the billing department at Kason Hardware Co. and as a typist for United States Pencil Company. In addition, she held several telephone operator positions at various banks and insurance companies. But it was at Prudential Insurance where she spent the majority of her career and retired from in 1991.

Ann’s most notable work was for the work she did for the Father’s Kingdom. She served as First Lady, alongside Pastor Herb, of Newark Gospel Tabernacle for twenty-two years working in several ministries such as the Women’s Fellowship, Homeless Ministry, Intercessory Prayer, Worship Team, Children’s Church and more. She continued to serve at the Tabernacle even after her husband’s passing. Lady Ann was also a founding member of the Ambassadors for Christ Ministries. Not to mention all the godly counsel she offered to those who called or needed a temporary place to stay. Furthermore, she was ordained as a minister in 2007, under the auspices of Apostle Doug Anderson. Lady Ann Green was beautiful, friendly and full of wisdom. She always had a smile on her face no matter what the circumstances were. She truly walked by faith and not by sight. She will be sorely missed.

On the morning of October 11, 2024, the Heavenly Father called His daughter into divine rest. Ann was predeceased by her husband the late Dr. Herb Green; her sisters: Mosetta Saffold, Evelyn Herron and Geneva Staley; her brothers: David Saffold, Luther Saffold, Eugene Saffold, Lonnie Saffold and Benjamin Saffold and her son-in-law, Edwin Soler. She will be forever remembered by her three children: Brian Green, Candace Soler and Dante Green (Sandra); eleven grandchildren: Tevin Lewis, Dasia Green, Makeda Green, Amira Green, Sharice Green, Kaylin Green, Genesis Soler, Kyle Soler, Jonathan Soler, Javier Soler and Ahkira Brundidge; one great-grandchild, Luren Brundidge; three brothers: Earl Saffold, Jonathan Saffold (Lula) and Tommy Lee Saffold (Lydia); two sisters: Irene Crawford and Sandra Gill (Keith); one sister-in-law, Janey Saffold and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, church family and friends.
