Rudolph Cushnie

Rudolph Cushnie, affectionately called "Ruddy," was born to Enid Crawford and George Cushnie in Golden Spring, St Andrew, Jamaica on April 16th, 1949.

Ruddy was the second of seven children and he attended the Manning's Hill All Age school in St Andrew. As a child Ruddy loved playing football and playing cartwheel games, we suspect that he damaged his toe during one of his many cartwheel adventures.

After finishing school, Rudolph spent most of his adult years working at the Stony Hill Post office in Stony Hill, St Andrew as a Telegram Delivery personnel.

Ruddy had an immense passion for Trucks, this stemmed from his father being a Truck Driver and his many trips with his dad. On one of these trips with his Dad, Ruddy met the mother of his two children, Kalsean and Micky. According to Ruddy, she was overwhelmed by his compelling attractiveness instantly. And we all know that he was a fetching young man.

Ruddy was a hardworking man and would often do extra jobs to provide for his two growing children who meant the world to him. You would find him selling items outside of his regular hours at the Post Office so that he had additional income to provide for his children. His kindness extended to his nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends and complete strangers. Rudolph had a heart of gold and was willing to help anyone that he encountered.

Ruddy was never foreign minded, and had a fear of going on a plane. But when Kalsy asked him to get his passport and apply for his visa he did not hesitate. This showed his willingness to take risks and wanting to be able to be where his children were. His second trip he swore he would never be back in New Jersey because of how cold it gets. However, as soon as his ticket was bought he was ready to travel again.

Ruddy is survived by his sister Beverly Cushnie-Robinson, affectionately called Aunty Blossom, his daughter Kalsean Reid-Coke, his son Micky Cushnie, granddaughters Aurelia Cushnie and Rodaynia Reid, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Ruddy, we love you and miss you and you will forever be in our hearts.
