June Stewart was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 7, 1948 to Precious Stewart. She departed this life unexpectedly on Monday, July 29 in East Orange, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her mother Precious Taylor, daughter Tonya Dionne Stewart, and brothers Paul Stewart and David Stewart.
June was educated in the East Orange Public School System. She was studying to become a Jehovah’s Witness, a path that brought her immense peace. June was known for her feisty, yet gentle spirit. You knew she was her mother’s daughter because she was paranoid of hospitals and needles. She loved and cared for her children, nieces and nephews. She was a guiding light, offering counsel and comfort to each of us in times of need. Even when she started to have challenges with her health, she demonstrated remarkable courage and grace and continued to nurture the family any way she could.
June touched many hearts and always helped friends when called upon. She was very protective of family. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide until she retired. She became lifelong friends with Lucy Jones who remained her good friend until the end.
June will truly be missed by her family who witnessed and personally experienced the depth of her love. Her spirit and love will remain with us forever.
June leaves behind her loving children Sean Stewart and Christopher Stewart, grandson Christopher Stewart Jr., great granddaughter Zalayah Stewart, sisters Joyce Francois and Bessie Brown (Charles), six brothers Jimmy Stewart (Nancy), Michael Stewart (Jacquie), Rodney Stewart (Linda), George Taylor, William Taylor and Terry Taylor (Charleen), and a host of precious nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
