Diane, affectionately known by family as D (De), Didi (De De), Auntie Didi or like her dear friend Amy Ledwell called her Di (dye), was born on May 2,1960 in Rich Square, North Carolina to Douglas Robinson and the late Josephine Jacobs. Diane passed away in her sleep on February 21st surrounded by love and prayers from her family, friends and her Congregation, at the age of 64.
In 1969 Diane and her family moved from North Carolina to Paterson, New Jersey, where she attended elementary school at Public School #25. After graduating from East Side High School, she attended Business School which allowed her to get a secure a position with State Farm Insurance Company. She worked at a State Farm for almost 40 years.
Diane was a loving, kind, and generous person who would give her time, her energy, her ear and even her patience to help others. Diane loved fashion, and her favorite store was Avenue. She loved shopping at Avenue so much that all the employees knew her by name. Her own bedroom was like a fashion boutique that her daughter (Eriana) frequently shopped at.
Diane cherished plants. Every year she would go to the garden center to pick various plants that she would arrange in the front yard, alongside her daughter. Gardening was tough work, but Diane loved seeing her hard work pay off and Jehovah's creation bloom. Her favorite plants were Coleus and Succulents. Even though when she touched a Succulent it would die every time, the Coleus would always thrive.
Diane loved watching the NBA and watched almost every game. She would watch it so much that at times her daughter Eriana would wake up in the middle of the night to tell her to go to bed. And her response would be, “okay, but let me see if the Lakers win first.” She found great joy in watching the games. Especially if Lebron was playing.
Diane was not a procrastinator. Many times, she would say, “let’s get going before the day gets ahead of us.” And this phrase was applied mostly when out in service, out shopping or on vacation. She was not a lounge around kind of person, but rather a get up and let’s go do something. So, on vacation there was no, “I wanna sleep in or lay on the beach. In her words, “we can do that at home… let’s go!” Diane always took her family on great adventures. Countless day trips, weeklong vacations and especially cruises. Diane and her family love going on cruises together, often wearing matching color coordinated outfits at dinner. Whether it was driving down to Englishtown Main Attraction or simply watching a movie on Mondays, Diane loved spending time with her family.
Most importantly she loved serving Jehovah. Diane was a faithful servant of Jehovah. Even while in a care facility for several months, she made a conscious effort to tell others about Him and even placed 2 Enjoy Life Forever brochures. She made an impression on everyone she met while receiving care. So much so that her nurses would rush into her room to ask her questions, and they had a hard time leaving.
In her weakened state, she would login to zoom for field service during the week and virtually attended every meeting. She was even able to auxiliary pioneer for the month of September. Instead of focusing on her own problems, Diane decided to tell others about Jehovah.
Diane and her family stayed firm in rejecting blood, and even in her final days she had Jehovah’s words on her lips. Revelations 21:4 - And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
