Denise “Niecey” Chambers was born on December 26, 1954, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Willie and Vernell Chambers. On January 16, Denise transitioned peacefully from this life to everlasting life in Heaven.
Denise received her early education in the Jersey City Public School System, attending P.S. #22 and Lincoln High School. She continued her education at Saint Peter’s College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business and Education. Raised in Salem Baptist Church in Jersey City, Denise developed strong faith and values that guided her throughout her life.
Denise dedicated many years to education, teaching business and computer classes throughout New Jersey and New York. She retired from the Essex County Educational Services Commission after a fulfilling career serving students with care and excellence.
Denise was truly her mother’s daughter—loving, kind, caring, generous, and nurturing. If Denise had something, she made sure others had it too. She was always there to listen, offer advice, or share a good laugh when it was needed most.
Niecey loved traveling and especially enjoyed going on cruises to destinations such as the Bahamas, the Caribbean islands, and Jamaica. She often traveled to South Carolina for the Brown Family Reunions, which she cherished deeply. In her downtime, Denise enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, including The View, The Ms. Pat Show, and anything by Tyler Perry. Most of all, she loved talking on the phone for hours with family and friends.
Although Denise did not have biological children of her own, she helped raise her sisters’ children as if they were her own, loving them fully and unconditionally.
Cherishing Her Memory
Denise leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and loving husband of 50 years, Sylvester Brown; two brothers, Anthony Chambers (Wanda) and Timothy Chambers (Sheila); four daughters, Charmaine, Christina (Joseph), Tacora (William), and Charnette Chambers; four sons, Maurice (Jacqueline), Jonathan, Dennis (Megan), and Hassan Chambers; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two aunts, Vivian Davenport and Bertha Amaker; one stepsister, Geraldine Ware; two stepbrothers, Andre and Shawn Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, former students, and friends, including her two loving best friends, Lena White and Judith Amiker.
