Shelby Anne Reddick was born Shelby Anne Jackson on November 21,1934 to her parents Robert Lonzy and Mary Corlean Jackson. She was delivered by a midwife at her family home in Madison, Virginia. She was the 3rd oldest of 8 children: sisters Mabel, Louise, Rosalie and brothers Phillip, John, Edward, and James.

She attended Orange County, Virginia School System up until the 8th grade when she had to leave school and help on the family farm. Shelby left Virginia in the 1950's and before this she met her 1st husband John Williams. John had three children : John Jr, Gloria, and Ann. Shelby was blessed to be a part of their lives and she loved them as her own. It was not long before John and Shelby started their family and together they shared 8 children; Raymond, Thomas, Wanda, Perez, Zachary, Kim, Yolanda, and Ardrene.

Shelby went on to meet her life love and partner. It was New Years Eve 1970 when Shelby went to the Highlight Bar with her friend Marie and she met Roy Lee Reddick who was bartending that night. The following year Roy and Shelby welcomed their twin daughters; Marella and Maretta, and though it took them 32 years to make it official they were married on November 22, 2002. Shelby and Roy enjoyed life together raising their children/grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. This love and devotion continued until Roy’s untimely passing on November 12, 2020.

Shelby was not afraid of hard work having worked 4 jobs in addition to being a housewife. She worked at Revlon, Newark Slip Company, Orange Fabrics Clothes Factory and Orange Memorial Hospital as Dietary Worker where she later retired in 1997. Shelby was a woman that shared her love, her food, and her home. She loved to spend time with family and friends from fish fry, barbecuing, fishing, concerts, and parties; a woman of many talents including the piano, accordion, and sewing. Later in her life she would spend her Sundays at church as member of Newark Bible Fellowship Church in Newark, New Jersey. She would say “I did best in life as wife, mother, sibling, and friend”

Shelby, a Woman of Strength and Courage experienced much heartache from losing people dear to her including her parents, her siblings, Mabel, Louise, Phillip, and Edward. Losing her life love, partner, husband; Roy Reddick and her children; Kim, Wanda, Thomas, Marella and two grandchildren; Nakea and Betty Jean. Also,in- laws; Betty Sue Reddick and Walter Lee Reddick, Junior, Flossie, Mildred, Dorothy, Walter, Mae, Ozzie, Susie, Perry, Herman, and James. Lifelong girlfriends; Louise, Bernice, Mary, Daughters, and Sons in Law Vivian, Cheryl, Michael, Donnie, and George.

Shelby has taken her Heavenly residence and she leaves to carry on, her children; Raymond, Perez, Zachary, Yolanda Ardrene and Maretta and fur baby; Midnight. Siblings; John and Rosalie, Brother-in-Law: Leroy and two Sister-in-Laws, Shirley and Beverly. 29 grandchildren, over 60 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces/nephews/ great nieces/nephews, relatives and friends.
